In my ending, Hans has ‘learned’ all that he can from the Miller. Maybe it is my background in counselling that makes me just see this relationship as emotional abuse, and I looked forward to an ending where Hans would turn the Miller’s advice around against him and the Miller would learn… that however didn’t happen and Hans died.
